Brit Brit's fragrance line outsold every other celebrity scent on the market last year (Celine, say it isn't so!), in spite of shaving her head, stripping in public, multiple trips to rehab, a disastrous performance at the VMAs, losing custody of her children and control of her estate, and flashing her vag more times than a Thai-hooker. Yes, somehow everyone's favorite train wreck managed to make $84 million off of her fragrance alone. Think of all the hot pink cowboy boots she can buy with that kind of money!

 

Needless to say, this news should squash all those bankruptcy rumors.

 

Seriously though, I'm glad that Brit seems to be getting better. Maybe the success of her perfumes will kick-start a much needed career comeback.

Songbird Mariah Carey pulled a very un-diva-like move recently when she eloped to The Bahamas with her actor boyfriend of only a few months, Nick Cannon. Carey and Cannon, who is 11 years her junior, tied the knot in a quiet ceremony in Eleuthera on April 30th, less than a year after Cannon's split from his former fiancée and Victoria's Secret model, Selita Ebanks. Although there has been much speculation that Cannon re-gifted the ring that he gave to his ex in a very romantic and public proposal in Times Square, a rep for JACOB & Co. has confirmed that Cannon worked with Jacob the Jeweler himself to design a $2.5 million, 17-carat light pink emerald-cut diamond ring set in platinum for Carey (Selita's ring was only 12 measly carats, meaning that Cannon clearly loves Mariah more)

The New Jersey woman implicated in the Eliot Spitzer call girl scandal, Ashley Alexandra Dupre (aka: "Kristen"), filed suit on Monday against Joe Francis, the founder of Girls Gone Wild. Dupre claims that Francis exploited her name and image for profit, and seeks damages of more than $10 million. Dupre alleges that Girls Gone Wild representatives plied her with alcohol and persuaded her to expose her breasts for cameras when she was just 17 years old and vacationing in Florida. In addition, she was unable to sign a release allowing her to be in the film since she was a minor. She claims that, since then, Girls Gone Wild has exploited her image and name in a number of online advertisements. Francis, who was released last month from jail in Nevada for tax evasion charges, claims that he has video of Dupre providing identification and consenting to be filmed. Could it be that Francis's early exploitation of Dupre is responsible for making her chose the path of prostitution?

In February, they paid $14.5 million for a 5,244 square-foot house in Pacific Palisades. In December of 2007, they sold their 4,828 square-foot house on Woodrow Wilson Drive for $3.8 million to Beverly DeAngelo. Built in 1951, the two-story home which was once occupied by Ringo Starr and Mama Cass (not at the same time - as far as we know), has 5 1/2 bathrooms, five or six bedrooms (depending on who's counting), a pool and six fireplaces. California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, just purchased 25 acres of ranch land in Santa Barbara County for $4.7 million. The 25-acre tract is part of the Rancho Monte Alegre project near the beach town of Capinteria. The project aims to transform an historic 19th century ranch, with several thousand acres of waterfalls, ocean views, and canyons, into 25 private luxury estates, ranging from 20 to 720 acres in size. Another 2,800 acres were donated to the Land Trust of Santa Barbara County as a conservation preserve. In keeping with the project's strict guidelines for design and landscaping, Schwarzenegger will build a modestly sized house between 4,500 and 8,500 square feet on his land.
