Richard's Take
Even if I stand alone on this one, I'd like to applaud what I call the "authentic lesbian community" (like Katy Perry, Lindsay Lohan, and any Girl who has gone Wild) for finally standing up and saying enough is enough. Too long have pristine male fantasies been ruined by the myths of lesbians being manly, plaid-enshrouded, spiky-haired, and generally Rosie-like; everyone knows that's a fallacy. I used to have this perfect recurring dream wherein Heather Locklear and Portia de Rossi would be enjoying a sensual pancake breakfast, but Ellen dancing in with Aunt Jemima would always ruin it.
To be clear, Aunt Jemima was never the problem. In fact, for years I've been putting up the following Craigslist ad in the Deep South: "Refined Gentleman seeks Plus-sized Plantation Mistress - bandana optional, syrup mandatory." Friends have called the ad absurd, but that's what makes me different: I never give up on dreams that only require the effort involved in checking my email once a day... and, God-willing, never will.

Reporting
There's nothing better than starting your day with a warm stack of pancakes, short or tall, fresh off the griddle and slathered in butter and syrup. Actually, pancakes are pretty fabulous at any hour of the day.
Located atop L.A.'s famed Sunset Tower Hotel, The Terrace serves its own perfect pancake. This decadent version, however, is savory, in contrast to the traditional sweet breakfast-hour treat. Crispy yet light, The Terrace's lobster-stuffed potato pancakes are a luxurious take on a classic: large chunks of lobster nestle inside a potato pancake pocket. Drizzled with a marvelous black truffle sauce, the pancakes melt in your mouth as you enjoy a symphony of perfectly balanced flavors on your palate.
It may be a challenge, but take your time enjoying this dish: the crisp and creamy potatoes, smooth lobster, and sharp but not overpowering truffle sauce deserve the attention.

Ah, I do so love to read character assassinations under the guise of "just being honest." lesdiggity, there are a couple of books that will help you with your attacks: Strunk & White, The Elements of Style; and a decent dictionary (you might want to look up "sardonic" before anything else).

Hello Richard, you know I read your little comments every week an I think they are so funny!!! Not so much in the comic sence but more like that retarted kid in school that you cant help but laugh at. I know it may sound mean but hey I'm jst being honest. Your lack of respect for other people an there ways of life makes me think,at the risk of sounding like a broken record that your most likly a social out cast that doesnt really fit in anywhere an has to insult others to make yourself feel good. Well bravo Richard. I hope one day you do find your plantation princess an she bashes your skull in with her family sized bottle of good ole aunt jermima! In conclusion thanks for all the laughs, its great to know there are still pompous pricks, arrogant assholes an people jst like you.

Usually you crack me up but what on earth do lesbians have to do with pancakes?
And lay off Rosie and Ellen. Being a humorist yourself, I'm sure you appreciate it in others, right?
Anyway, the best pancakes in L.A. are at Dupar's in the Farmer's Market, and have been since 1938.

Richard,
Please let me tell you that you are a genius. Seriously. I find your wit, mordant sarcasm, uncensored imagination and your sensitivity to pop-culture to be simply brilliant. I am a working actress and writer in L.A. and I really think that you should, if you haven't already, write a screenplay or TV series. I don't know who you are really and where you live, but if that's something you'd be inclined to, please get in touch, we can connect and discuss further.
Keep it up, you will go far. Excellent job.
Thanks,
Raya

Hi Richard,
I just want to again say what a hugh fan I am of your emails. As someone in the music business with offices in LA and NYC (although we are based in Orlando) I keep your emails as a reference on where to go out of my way to stop by for the best of things.
I know one of the ways you must find things is by readers of your eblast telling you about places they have found. Here are two place, although both may be for your own personal enjoyment...
I have been blessed to travel quite a few places, and the best place for pancakes I have ever been is a place in Nashville called 'Pancake Pantry". I don't know what in the world they do to them, but they are the best by far. If you ever find yourself in Nashville (sorry if you do) at least you can get a great breakfast!
The second suggestion is for best hamburger. Although it's not the most expensive, "the apple pan" 10801 W. Pico Boulevard in West Los Angeles. It opened in 1947 should be considered as the best burger in LA and it what Johnny Rockets and all the others have modeled themselves from. They original is always the best.
Again, thanks your your great email blast.
