Chris Bridges, a.k.a. Ludacris, has teamed up with an Atlanta car dealership to give away twenty cars to those in need.
Here’s the deal: people submitted their stories of hardship and described how not having a car has affected their lives. Why is he doing it? Simply put, Ludacris felt that he could step in and help out. Each used vehicle that is given away includes thirty days of free gas, but the winners are responsible for paying for their vehicle’s insurance, registration, taxes, and tags.
Around 4,000 contestants submitted essays of approximately 300 words to the Ludacris Foundation. One of the winners was a man from the Sudan who had lost his entire family to the violence there. He now works at a school, but struggles to get to and from work every day.
In tough economic times, it’s always nice to hear that those who can give big are actually doing so... More >> ..

There might not be a lot of money around, but apparently Eddie Griffin feels that what we lack in actual resources can be made up for with giant checks. This must be how mediocre comedians develop brainless careers around their big, flapping mouths.
While Griffin's TV show Malcolm & Eddie and 2006 film Undercover Brother swept through the entertainment universe as harmless debris, Eddie Griffin has now harmed-allegedly intentionally-an unsuspecting target. Not long ago, Griffin handed an oversized check for $150,000 to Jamaica 360, a group dedicated to sending African American college graduates to the Caribbean to perform charity work. A participant, Samir Sayegh, claimed that Griffin borrowed his credit card to cover a hotel bill in Jamaica, only to charge $150,000 on the card to the organization's leader. Two weeks later, Sayegh saw the charge on his statement.
Now American Express is suing Sayegh, who is in turn suing Griffin for fraud... More >> ..
This past Monday, a ravaging earthquake (6.3 on the Richter scale) devastated the central Italian city of L'Aquila and the surrounding region. Over the past few days, rescue personnel have combed through the remains of the medieval city, picking through the broken pieces left by the fatal tremor-including the rubble of an estimated 10,000 historic buildings, the residue of numerous family homes, and the lifeless bodies of 260 and counting. The cultural minister of Italy, Giuseppe Proietti, spoke to the AP about the earthquake, noting, "The damage is more serious than we can imagine."
Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has told the media that Italy has the resources to handle the disaster, though relief manager Paolo Diani has reported that the government is struggling to prioritize the use of inadequate resources. The elderly and children have filed into shelters, while other citizens have erected makeshift camps... More >> ..
An anonymous fan, apparently endowed with more money than sense, has purchased Scarlett Johansson's snotty tissue on eBay.com for $5,300. Okay, so the sale was for charity-but still, it has to make you worry which famous body fluid will be auctioned off next. Ick!Page 1 of 1 for search term: Charity
